In future, a separate youth work structure is to be introduced in all 55 lycées of Luxembourg. This is provided for in a new school law that is to be passed these days. In the context of these developments, Dr Sandra Biewers-Grimm and Anita Latz presented the variety of topics and occasions on which young people can educate themselves within the framework of youth work.
Creating a non-evaluative framework for young people
They showed that the non-evaluative framework and the orientation towards one’s own educational topics and interests are important prerequisites for the personal, social, and cultural development of young people. Biewers-Grimm and Latz based their presentation on the results of the JUBI study and spoke about their model of transformational education in youth work.
The two researchers from the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY) at the University of Luxembourg presented their scientific findings together with Marcell Heinrich, educator and co-author of the book Education For Future: Bildung für ein gelingendes Leben. After the discussion of both presentations, there was a consensus that youth work will become an increasingly important educational actor in the future.
